Who We Are
Advancing social science research by reducing barriers to efficient and effective data use.
The SSRI Data Resources Hub is designed to organize and support data acquisition and compliance, selective storage services, and workshops and training needs tailored to meet the needs of social and behavioral sciences. The Hub is currently expanding services to align with the needs of social scientists within Penn State University. During the 2023-34 pilot year, these services are being provided as they are available to SSRI faculty, Cofunds, and will expand to all social science faculty at The Pennsylvania State University as resources allow.
What We Do
Computing analytical and storage infrastructure
Our team manages CUBSS (SSRI-based ‘Computational Unit for Behavioral and Social Sciences’) for active-use data storage along with multiple GPUs for computationally intensive data analysis. DRH also has working knowledge to facilitate numerous other storage solutions.
Data acquisition and compliance
The Data Resources Hub will facilitate data acquisition and compliance through University offices. Our teams’ knowledge base in social science data sets will aid in obtaining appropriate data classification and aligning storage solutions.
Programming and project management
If availability exists, the Hub will arrange SSRI programmers to work on funded faculty projects.
Training and workshops
The Hub arranges for SSRI based workshops on a host of data related topics. Please contact the hub at SSRI-DRH@psu.edu if you have interest in presenting a workshop or bootcamp related to data or analytics in conjunction with the Data Resources Hub.
